History of PCDGC Founders

At that time, in January 2014, the founders of David Thompson, David Ramirez, Louis Pedroza, Jerry Nichols, Steve Gutierrez, and Robert Audette discussed founding a deaf club in Inland Empire County, along with several individuals from counties like Orange County, east of Los Angeles, and San Diego. The discussion took place at COCO’s restaurant in Diamond Bar. We started throwing around ideas for the name of the deaf club. We decided to name the club, Pacific Coast Deaf Golf Club, aka PCDGC. The next step was to appoint officers for the club. The first official officers are David Ramirez (President), Louis Pedroza (Vice President), Jerry Nichols (Secretary), David Thompson (Treasurer), Steve Gutierrez (Handicap Committee), David McRae (Webmaster, and Robert Audette, (Photographer).

As the years go by, the club continues to grow its membership and implement new ideas, including a website, Game Book, Cash App and End of the Year events, along with the establishment of by-laws. PCDGC hosts 10 monthly tournaments from September to June.

In July 2023, PCDGC hosted the Far West Golf Association of the Deaf (FWGAD) tournaments at Soboba Springs Golf Course.

The Riverside deaf community has been continuously growing and moving to Riverside. In the hub of Riverside, we have the California School for the Deaf (CSDR), Riverside City Community College, services, clubs, organizations, social activities, and employment opportunities.
