What a beautiful day for golf!

We gathered at Glen Ivy to celebrate Farley’s 70th birthday. All nine golfers didn’t fare too well on the course, but we had a great time. We barely finished 18 holes before dusk—whew!

Congratulations to Dave Trimborn for winning with the best net score.  For skins, seven golfers took home wins, with three of them going to Mike Finneran—not birdies but pars.

For closest to the pin, congratulations to Peter Seiler, who loves golf despite of his score landed his shot just 9 feet from the hole on #5, and to Farley Warshaw, who was 32 feet away on #17.  As usual, David Thompson captured the lowest number of putts.

Tim Hile and Tony Barksdale did their best, though their focus seemed to wander a bit as both putted over 40—better luck next time (under 30 putts, maybe!).  Bobby Audette, recovering from a work injury, played bravely but couldn’t quite beat Farley’s age on the scorecard.

Farley’s favorite “boy,” Jeremy who now lives in Austin, surprised him on his birthday last Thursday, making it an even more special birthday weekend.

After the round, we gathered at Karl Strauss for a celebratory dinner with Farley. Doug Ellis, currently on medical leave from PCDGC, joined us, and we all enjoyed swapping stories about our birthday honoree.

We left with full stomachs and big smiles, thanks to the great food and a server who used ASL.

Overall, it was a fun-filled day!  Pictures and results will be on the website:  PCDGC.org.

Next up: Costa Mesa, Saturday, November 1st.
See you all there!
